Tannery Arts is a small, independent charity concerned with supporting the professional development of emerging and established artists through the provision of affordable studios, promoting their practice through opportunities to exhibit work, develop projects, generate partnerships with local authorities, private property owners and social housing organisations as well as engage in learning activities.
During our Autumn cohort of RPS After School Club, generously supported by Hauser & Wirth, the children explored the work of Nicolas Party. Inspired by his bold colours and surreal treescapes in his recent Clotho exhibition at Hauser & Wirth London, the group embarked on a collaborative printmaking project full of experimentation and creative mark-making.
Using soft pastels, charcoal, pens and tracing paper, the children created tree studies with sweeping trunks, swirling branches, and abstract nature-inspired marks and rubbings. Working together, the children layered elements from each other’s drawings, creating vibrant, textured treescapes. Their drawings became the foundation for collaborative Riso prints. The Riso process, with its rich colours and slightly imperfect, organic quality, brought the compositions to life.
Inspired by Party’s imagined treescapes, the after-school club artists produced a brilliant collection of prints.
Hauser & Wirth are generously supporting our Rock Paper Scissors After School Club programme for three years from September 2025 to September 2028.
