Marking Time by Margaret Iversen

Margaret Iversen (Professor Emerita, University of Essex) presents her paper Marking Time as part of the symposium Standard Deviation: Time and The Body, 30 May 2015 at Drawing Room. Conceived and led by Susan Morris, this half-day symposium looked at ways in which artists have used automated processes of drawing to explore time, the body, and the machinic gesture or trace.

Iversen discusses Morris' work in relation to technology's impact on the subject's experience of time, drawing on Mary Ann Doane's The Emergence of Cinematic Time and Jonathan Crary's 24/7: Late Capitalism and the End of Sleep.
