It has played a key role in introducing many important Minimal and Conceptual artists, including a number of artists in Abstract Drawing, some of whom were among the first to show at the gallery after it’s opening in 1967. Solo exhibitions by John Latham (1970), Bob Law (1971), Sol LeWitt (1971), and Dorothea Rockburne (1973), as well as early group exhibitions bringing together works by Roger Ackling, Mira Schendel, Dom Sylvester Houédard, Bob Law and Sol LeWitt highlight the connections between artists working with Lisson Gallery during the same period. Our display includes private view cards, photographs, press cuttings and correspondence from the Lisson Gallery Archive. These provide an insight into the creative relationship between artist and gallery, public reception of their shows, and the gallery’s early visual style.
