This limited edition print has been produced to coincide with Annotations II: Amelia Barratt, for which Barratt has created Librarian, an immersive sound installation featuring the artist’s voice and that of her frequent collaborator Mark Barratt. In the darkened library, a monologue fills the room with a spoken autofiction. Books and the dehumidifier are the only companions to the busy worker, who wears a bell on her keys so that she can hear herself move. Barratt’s text offers a voice to the particular intimacy and quietness of a library, intensified by the present limitations on human closeness and public vocal expression.
Poster for Librarian is a two-sided print designed by Maeve Redmond, one side of which shows elements from Barratt’s ‘performance drawings’ that accompany the installation, and the reverse side showing the full text of the sound piece.
