In Alignments, Lilian Kroth explores drawing as a way of thinking by tracing the figures of thought and thoughtscapes of French philosopher of science Michel Serres.

In a fluidity between abstraction and figuration, Kroth’s drawings and texts unfold alongside Serres’ work, investigating where a line can go and what it can do – relate, interact, interfere, synthesise, become parallel, cut off, overlap, burn, evanesce or deliquesce.

Working with Serres through his engagement with the history and philosophy of science, literary studies, and art history, the book forges a passage between different forms of knowledges and sensitivities towards lines, delineation, and alignments.
