Find out more about Drawing Room, what we do, and our relationship with studio provider Tannery Arts.
Tannery Arts is a small, independent charity concerned with supporting the professional development of emerging and established artists through the provision of affordable studios, promoting their practice through opportunities to exhibit work, develop projects, generate partnerships with local authorities, private property owners and social housing organisations as well as engage in learning activities.
Drawing Biennial 2017 offers insights into how artists contend with a world in rapid and disorienting flux. A snapshot of contemporary drawing practices, the exhibition includes more than 200 new and recent works on paper by leading international artists.
Culminating in an online auction in the exhibition’s two final weeks, individual works are available from £250. Proceeds from the auction support Drawing Room’s ongoing programme. Invited by Mary Doyle, Kate Macfarlane and Katharine Stout (Directors, Drawing Room) with nominations from leading international experts, all the drawings are on A4 supports, with each piece given equal prominence in the exhibition. The full list of artists who have donated to the biennial is available here.
A selection of installation photographs from the Drawing Biennial 2017 are included below.
Tom Morton's essay 'An Alphabet of 15 Letters – The Drawing Biennial 2017 from A-Y' is also available to download.
