Zine Workshop with Rachael House

Image 1

Location

Library, 1-4pm

Join us for this free session to draw and write your own complete zine, and explore feminism, identity and self-publishing. Booking is essential as places are limited!

This structured two hour workshop led by Rachael House will give each participant the opportunity to make a one-off minizine about identity.

Rachael’s workshops are designed to build people’s confidence in their skills – she says “everyone always produces something brilliant”.

Touching on themes of our current exhibition The Time of Our Lives, as well as the related library display on Feminist Self-Publishing, the session will also explore how zines are a way for all of us to make our voices heard, to build communities, and create a lo-fi social networking space.

Participants are invited to join us from 1-2pm for a soup lunch to celebrate the book launch for Drawing Act VII, a project led by Amanda Holiday with Coin Street Over 50s Group.  The zine workshop will run from 2-4pm.

No experience is necessary to join this session, and all materials will be provided.

Rachael House‘s practice is focused on queer and feminist politics. She makes objects, zines, drawings, events and performance. She has been making zines for several decades – this radical self publishing is dear to her heart and she loves to spread the word via workshops. Rachael’s art is featured in numerous publications, such as Crafted With Pride, edited by Daniel Fountain, published by Intellect; The Art Of Feminism, published by Tate; and Resistance: The LGBT Fight Against Fascism in WWII, published by Stacked Deck Press.
