On the evening of 17th June 2026, when our regular book club met to discuss ‘Transcendence for Beginners’ we found ourselves spontaneously, and collectively inspired to read ‘In Search of Lost Time’, Proust’s epic and somewhat infamous seven volume work on time and memory. We all knew it would be difficult, some of us had started and stopped, and some of us had put it off for years – but we also knew it would be worth it. We suddenly realised what we needed was support! That night, The Proust Support Club was born. Some Proust scholars suggest ‘In Search of Lost Time’ can actually be read in parts and doesn’t necessarily have to be read in consecutive order. So the club will be taking a slow, enjoyable and bit-size approach to the work. On Wednesday 21st October, we’ll be starting off at the beginning with a discussion of ‘Swann’s Way’ – the first volume. Join us for the journey. We’ll be taking it in turns to read selected passages out loud together (for those who wish to) from which we’ll start off the conversation.
