Nordic Noir showcases the British Museum’s new significant Scandinavian collection of works on paper developed over the past 5 years. The exhibition is a selection of works from 1945 to the present day by artists from Edvard Munch to Mamma Anderson and includes works acquired for the collection from Vanessa Baird’s solo exhibition at Drawing Room in 2021 and a new commission by Olafur Eliasson. The exhibition explores a diverse range of subjects: from Norse culture, political art of the 1970s, the role of women in Scandinavian society and the urgent climate concerns of the region. The collection has been developed by Jennifer Ramkalawon, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Nordic Graphic Art who will lead the exhibition tour prior to its first opening to the public.
