Join us for a workshop to design and make a wrap style cover for your favourite book, printed in an edition of 6 on our RISO machine.

Have you ever judged a book by its cover?

Books are beautiful and beloved objects, and their covers often contribute to their appeal. We look to them to reveal something of what lies within, and often return after reading to reinterpret their images. Photographs, famous paintings, bold typography, patterns and minimalist covers grace our favourite books, but these objects are also wrapped in our own memories or experiences of reading them.

Come along to this workshop to talk about why you love your favourite book, capture this in a design and make a wrap style cover, which you’ll then print in an edition of 6 on our RISO machine.

The session will be led by Amanda Wayne, a multidisciplinary artist, whose practice also explores conversation and sharing in a circle.

You are invited to bring along your novel size book (around 20 cm).  There are 15 places available for this free workshop, funded by the Literary Festival 2026: Bermondsey & Beyond, in partnership with Big Local Works.

This event is a part of the Literary Festival 2026: Bermondsey & Beyond, in partnership with Big Local Works. This initiative is a proud element of Made in Bermondsey, a community-led movement dedicated to celebrating our local culture, identity, and the incredible talent found right here in SE16. It’s all about creating spaces where our stories can be told and our creativity can thrive together.

Amanda Wayne is an imaginative artist and visual storyteller with a practice rooted in tactile, hand-rendered processes. Her work embraces slow, considered ways of making that invite mindfulness, curiosity and play, using simple materials. Working across the mediums of stop motion, textiles, photography, drawing and collage, Amanda creates worlds that unfold to tell stories.
