Verhoeven & Kinder Selects

Location

Gallery

We invite well-known thinkers and creatives to make a selection of their top works from the Drawing Biennial exhibition.

Join artist and designer Julie Verhoeven, and fashion designer Kinder Aggugini as they view the works in Drawing Biennial 2013 and talks us through their top picks.

Kinder Aggugini was born and raised in Italy before escaping to England to study both at St Martins School of Art and on London’s Savile Row. His career took him to work for John Galliano, Vivienne Westwood and Paul Smith, before relocating overseas to design at some of the world’s most prestigious luxury houses, Versace, Calvin Klein and Costume National, as ghost designer. In 2008, Kinder stepped into the spotlight with his first own name collection – which was exclusively stocked at Dover Street Market, following a personal visit from Rei Kawakubo.

Julie Verhoeven has worked in numerous ways across fashion and design, from illustration to creative direction and design consultancy and her love of drawing is always at the heart of her work. She studied fashion at Medway College (now Kent Institute), graduating in 1987, and began her career as first design assistant to John Galliano. As an artist she has shown extensively recent exhibitions include; 'Outragous Fortune', The Hayward Gallery Touring exhibition, House of Voltaire, Studio Voltaire and 'Birdseye', British Film Institute. Recently London’s Victoria & Albert Museum has acquired a large body of work spanning 20 years of Verhoeven’s practice for their Prints and Drawings Archive.
