Event Deme Georghiou in Conversation with Grant Watson 31 August 2019 Back Deme GeorghiouThe Tree2017 Location Gallery Deme_Georghiou_The_Tree_2017-3.jpg Deme_Georghiou_The_Coppice_Encounter_2017-3.jpg Join curator Grant Watson in conversation with artist Deme Georghiou, recipient of this year’s Drawing Room Bursary Award. As part of Deme Georghiou's open studio weekend, the artist will be joined in conversation by Grant Watson, curator, researcher and co-founder of bauhaus imaginista. They will be discussing the concurrent themes running through Georghiou's practice and the body of work made during his time as artist in residence at Drawing Room. Deme Georghiou's interest in material exploration includes painting, acrylic and plaster reliefs and metalwork, with drawing acting as the foundation to these processes. With an interest in archaeological artefacts and civic sculpture, Georghiou will utilise the unique architecture of Drawing Room’s gallery space to create site-specific works that are ambitious both materially and in terms of their scale. There will be a chance to join us for a drink and the opportunity to see what Georghiou has been working on during his his time as artist in residence in Drawing Room's gallery space. For more information on the Bursary Award please see here. This event is free and there is no need to book.
