Bermondsey is a place rich with stories. This soundscape draws together local voices and experiences, asking what we might hear when we listen closely to a place through the words of people intimately connected with it. The conversations began with land, nature and the local environment, but were left open to travel. Woven through the sounds and textures of Bermondsey, they move through memory, migration, belonging, friendship, care, community and change, tracing how our relationships with place are shaped by what came before, what remains, and what is changing around us. Created in relationship with Listening to the earth, the soundscape brings local voices and experiences into conversation with the themes and questions explored in the exhibition. It will be available to listen to in the Drawing Room Library throughout the duration of the current exhibition. The Soundscape is produced by Leila Bakkali and Confucius MC.
