Event Book Launch: After Constructivism by Brandon Taylor 15 April 2014 Back A. CruzvillegasAutoconstruction, 2008 Location Gallery Images 135CruzvillegasC-3.jpg We are hosting the launch of Brandon Taylor’s new book After Constructivism, published by Yale University Press. The evening will consist of an informal discussion chaired by artist and curator Andrew Bick, with the artist Katrina Blannin and art historian Brandon Taylor. In After Constructivism, Taylor argues for recognition of a forgotten paradigm in the fine arts, that of the 'madeness' of the art object and its importance to a diverse range of constructed paintings, sculptures, and reliefs from the time of Russian and International Constructivism through to the experimental manners and inventions of contemporary art. There will be a glass of wine and the chance to see the current Abstract Drawing exhibition, curated by Richard Deacon, which offers several important parallels with the arguments put forward by Taylor in his book.
