Book club participants

Book Club was instigated by India Chambers as an informal space for the group to meet and share ideas about chosen texts, activating Drawing Room’s Library. Sessions were themed around a collection of short stories including Frying Plantain by Zalika Benta-Reid. Copies were made available through Round Table Books, a Black-owned book shop.

India Chambers is a bookseller, researcher, and literature enthusiast from London. After undertaking a BA in English and Comparative Literature at Goldsmiths University, India went on to study an MA in Black British Writing. India’s research primarily interrogates the intersections of class and race, and explorations of her Black mixed heritage are themes throughout her work. In 2019 India assisted the Worldwide Head of Culture and Inclusion at M&C Saatchi and dedicates herself to listening, harnessing, and amplifying the voices of those that have been historically underrepresented. India now works for Penguin Books as an assistant editor.

Thank you to all involved:
