Event Aggregate Zone, a performance by Adam Shield 29 October 2019 Back Adam ShieldAggregate ZoneCourtesy the artist Location Gallery Images Adam_Shield_awaiting_caption_info-3.jpg Adam Shield will perform a live set of music, composed of field recordings, samples and found sounds, traversing sonically the themes explored in his Annotations 6 commission Expo Dream Leech. This performance will take us to the Aggregate Zone, a heavily industrial riverside area in North Greenwich, and home to Shield’s studio. Combining field recordings from the area with the narrative voices of J. G. Ballard, Ursula K. Le Guin and Mark E Smith amongst others, Shield invites us to experience this infrastructure as a dystopian dreamscape. Adam’s visual practice and musical performances often begin with formal framework, from which he layers samples of imagery or sound, pattern and texture. Expo Dream Leech portrays a liquid, shape shifting world using pliable or translucent materials. Like ripples breaking at the edge of a tank, returning to the framework provokes sequence and repetition, a logic which Shield produces musically using a step sequencer and loop pedal. This event is free, but booking is essential. Please ensure you book for your preferred performance time. Transfers to another performance are not guaranteed. Annotations Outset Study Commissions are supported by Veronique Parke and Outset Contemporary Art Fund.
