Volunteer with us  to play a vital role working with the public and behind the scenes. Volunteers make a huge contribution to Drawing Room's work, and we aim to provide excellent opportunities to gain new skills and experience within a contemporary arts organisation. 

Gallery Assistants (Voluntary)

This is an opportunity for individuals to join our team at Drawing Room and gain valuable practical work experience by contributing to day-to-day running of a public arts organisation, learning about project, exhibition and gallery management, audience development and communications. You will be an integral part of the small team and acquire a wide range of skills and experiences. In particular the role includes:

Assisting in the realisation of exhibitions
Assisting to the planning logistics of events and workshops
Engaging with visitors
Gathering audience data
Scanning and cataloguing of works
Assisting in the administration of Drawing Room website and e-commerce
Contributing to social media activity
General administrative support to Directors and team members

Person specification:
Confident individual who can work independently and within a team
Available to commit to 2 days per week for 3 months
Flexibility to attend events on occasional evenings
Interested in Contemporary Art
PC literate with experience of Photoshop, Excel and social media platforms
Have exceptional attention to detail
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
An interest in pursuing a career in arts organisations, such as gallery management or communications
Experience within retail, office and/or hospitality will be valued

Fundraising Assistant (Voluntary)

Are you looking to develop a career in arts fundraising? This is an exciting opportunity to join the Drawing Room’s small team and gain practical work experience by contributing to the development of a public arts organisation. This voluntary role will give you experience in the areas of membership administration, individual giving, fundraising strategy and communications, events support, and the day to day running of an art gallery.

Drawing Room is the place to discover contemporary drawing: a not-for-profit gallery, library, shop and online resource dedicated to opening up the world of contemporary drawing to everyone. Based in Bermondsey, South East London, Volunteers benefit from being part of the Tannery Arts community and more widely the art scene in the area.

Working with Drawing Room’s Membership and Events Manager, its Co-Directors as well as other team members, the Fundraising Assistant will have the opportunity to work on a range of projects relating to the development of the gallery.
