A tour will allow you to discover more about everything we do at Drawing Room, from our current exhibitions to our drawing research programme. If you do not require a tour for your group visit, please note self-led visits for groups of more than 10 people need to be booked in advance. To organise your group tour or self-led visit, please contact Drawing Room’s FOH & Events Coordinator [email protected] to book.

Before making your group booking enquiry, please note:

  • We are only able to offer group tours during exhibition opening periods – our What’s On page will tell you what exhibitions we currently have on and their duration.
  • Tours can only be booked Wednesday – Friday.
  • A combined tour of the library and exhibition would normally last 30-40 minutes, a tour of the exhibition only would last roughly 20 minutes.
  • We require visiting tour groups to be a minimum of 10 people and a maximum of 20 people, any groups larger than 20 will require staggered entry times.
  • For tours, we recommend a £5 donation for each person attending. If your group is unable to meet this recommendation, please still make a booking enquiry with our Gallery Manager. We are particularly keen to hear from local community groups and schools interested in visiting Drawing Room.
  • If you would like to book in a tour with one of Drawing Room’s Co-Directors/Co-Founders, Mary Doyle and Kate Macfarlane, we recommend a higher donation of £200 per group.
  • All group tours and self-led visits should be booked at least 2 weeks in advance of the intended visit date.
  • We are unable to provide a designated lunch space on site for group visits, however there is plenty of outdoor tables and seating just outside our building which is free for the public to use.
  • We have cloakrooms available to use during visits, but we cannot take any responsibility for any items damaged/lost if left in the cloakroom.

Please see our Access page or contact our FOH & Events Coordinator directly if you would like to discuss how we can support with access needs during your group visit.

Information for Schools & Colleges

  • If possible, it is beneficial for teachers to visit the exhibitions beforehand in order to assess its suitability for their group.
  • Teachers are responsible for the behaviour and conduct of students at all times.
  • We ask visiting school groups to maintain a staff to student ratio of 1:10.
  • Following your tour, schools can also book our Community Studio dependant on availability to use as a lunch space for up to 2 hours.
