Join artist Patrick Goddard and writer Patrick Langley to tell stories of urban life through collage, drawing and text. At the end of the workshop, the stories will be brought together as a zine, and each participant will receive a copy.

We will specifically be thinking, drawing and writing about the urban environment, street scenes, and the poetics of wandering. Participants are invited to bring along a short anecdote, drawing, photographs or any idea that they might like to illustrate and make into a one-page, comic-book style mini narrative or standalone drawing or collage. We will however also be providing photographs, scenarios or snippets of text to work from for those who choose to not bring their own materials. Participants will additionally have the Outset Study collection to draw inspiration from.

Zines are small DIY publications associated with political and sub-cultural movements, though they now often respond to a range of artistic and personal themes. They are designed to be cheap to produce, to allow for wide distribution. Outset Study holds a small number of artist’s zines and the zine created in this workshop will be added to the collection. Patrick Goddard’s Ghost House is also currently installed in the study, and will set the scene for the workshop.

Free places available for 16-25 year olds living in SE1 and SE17 only.
