Event paM Invites 30 June 2016 Back Plan_chest_display_paM_image_.jpg Location Gallery Plan_chest_display_paM_image_-1.jpg mid June – mid September 2016 To coincide with the launch of paM – a map of associate contemporary art galleries, project and exhibition spaces in the Bermondsey area of Southwark, South London, Drawing Room has invited two of the galleries – CGP London and VITRINE London – to curate a drawer in Outset Study plan chest. CGP London selected local artist John Walter. Walter's prolific practice incorporates performance, hospitality, painting, installation and drawing. His multi-faceted 'Maximalist' approach often tackles uncomfortable theoretical and socio-political investigations such as HIV as well as broader contemporary sexual politics via a seductive and sumptuous aesthetic. Last year's Alien Sex Club, a vast touring labyrinthine installation with performance, was an expansive, intoxicating installation style that CGP intend to push even further in 2017, where we are commissioning a new body of work, CAPSID, which will then tour to HOME, Manchester. VITRINE London has selected the drawing made by McGilvary/White for the forthcoming exhibition Identify your limitations, acknowledge the periphery which opens on 12 July 2016. It is an ambitious group exhibition with site-specific works by 18 British and International artists that will look at the notions of limitations, instruction-based practice, and the role of the vitrine within exhibition making. paM includes ASC Gallery, Arthouse 1, Cecilia Brunson Projects, Coleman Project Space, CGP London, Drawing Room, Jerwood Space, Jupiter Woods, Matts Gallery, Fashion and Textiles Museum, Tannery Projects,Turps Gallery, VITRINE London and White Cube, alongside recommended local eateries and places of interest.
