Event Hardeep Pandhal in Conversation 2 September 2015 Back Hardeep PandhalOriginal Trace, 2015Mixed media Location Gallery Images pandhal-hardeep_original-trace-5.jpg Join our co-director Kate Macfarlane in conversation with artist Hardeep Pandhal, the 2015 recipient of the Drawing Room Bursary Award. Pandhal experiments with non-linear modes of story-telling, parodic language and his own autobiographical content to reflect upon the displacing effects of acculturation: in coming of age, initiation and reformatory practices. He will use the time and resources that the Drawing Room Bursary Award provides to develop a new body of work to include ‘comic foregrounds’ (satirical scenarios drawn onto free standing panels, with ‘head holes’ to encourage audience participation) and videos. Born in Birmingham, Hardeep Pandhal now lives and works in Glasgow, having graduated with an MFA from the Glasgow School of Art in 2013 with the support of a Leverhulme Scholarship award. He was selected for Bloomberg New Contemporaries (2013) and the Catlin Art Guide (2014). The talk will be followed by a chance to join us for a drink and open studio to see work Pandhal has made during his residency.
