Drawing Club: Kristian Evju

Celebrate our twelfth Drawing Biennial by learning a new drawing skill with Biennial artist Kristian Evju!

Join artist Kristian Evju to discover new techniques and insights into your own drawing practice. Best known for making enigmatic and unpredictable graphite drawings and paintings based on project-specific historical archives, Evju will introduce participants to his creative practice and the techniques behind his precise renderings.

Evju (b. 1980 Kongsberg, Norway) is a Norwegian artist based in London, UK, making exquisitely detailed pencil drawings and paintings. He received his BA (Hons) Painting and Drawing from Edinburgh College of Art in 2007, followed by a Masters degree in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art in 2011. By transporting historical individuals, objects and settings into new contexts, the artist liberates them from their assigned narrative, thus provoking discussion around the limitations of representation and also the cultural associations attached to certain types of imagery.

The class will accommodate max. 20 people. It is not required that you bring any materials with you, but you are welcome to do so if you wish. Otherwise all drawing materials will be provided such as pencils, pens, pastels etc.

Drawing Club is a series of skills-based workshops based on Drawing Room’s exhibition programme. This event with Kristian Evju invites people for a workshop on realism in order to learn a new creative technique and celebrate the twelfth edition of our Drawing Biennial 2026.
