Tannery Arts is a small, independent charity concerned with supporting the professional development of emerging and established artists through the provision of affordable studios, promoting their practice through opportunities to exhibit work, develop projects, generate partnerships with local authorities, private property owners and social housing organisations as well as engage in learning activities.
We’re thrilled to invite you to explore the virtual revival of our 2019 exhibition Marc Bauer's Mal Ȇtre/Performance, presented on theVOV's online platform, alongside other exhibitions from Tate, Hayward Gallery, IKON, National Galleries Scotland and other major arts organisations.

Mal Ȇtre/Performance presented a new body of work by Swiss artist MarcBauer in his first solo exhibition in a UK public gallery. Bauer’s chosen medium is drawing, which he used to make small and large scale works on paper, a wall drawing and an animation. Marc undertakes extensive research into differing subjects, and there are key themes throughout his work, around nationalism, power, heredity, gender, identity, both using the visual and the written word.

theVOV is a new virtual ecosystem that presents landmark contemporary art exhibitions for you to enjoy live and on demand and Drawing Room is delighted to be part of the founding fifteen UK public arts organisations on this new journey into the ‘Phygital Era’, where the physical and digital coexist closer than ever.
Marc Bauer studied at the Ecole supérieure d’art visuel in Geneva and the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam. His many solo exhibitions include Frac Auvergne, (2021); Drawing Room, London (2019), De la Warr Pavilion, UK (2019). Group exhibitions include the 21st Sydney Biennial (2018), the Centre Pompidou in Paris (2017) and the Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst in Zurich (2016). Marc Bauer is the recipient of the 2020 Swiss Art Award – Prix Meret Oppenhein and 2020 GASAG Art Prize.
Mary Doyle is co-founder and Co-Director of Drawing Room since 2002.
