Amy Rose Barnes Untitled Year 2023/24 Medium Fine liner and marker pen on paper Dimensions 29.9 x 21 cm About the work Amy Rose Barnes’ practice is centred in abstract drawing and collage, responding to commonly observed, but often overlooked, natural forms, lines and patterns which she abstracts away from their original context. Amy’s process is explored through a meditative and intuitive state of mind, embodying the balance of gravity, growth and movement through composition. Predominantly working with pen, oil pastel and acrylic onto paper and reclaimed fabric, allowing her to work on multiple at one time. In her most recent works, she references patterns and threads associated with lace, as she explores her ancestral connection to lace making in Youghal, Ireland.
