About the work

The work, titled ‘The Brick Wall’, serves as a multifaceted symbol. It embodies the concepts of home, family and a Sanctuary for Protection, juxtaposed with its representation of a societal construct. The wall, constructed from stamps made of my handmade miniature terracotta bricks dipped in water-based inks, acts as a living canvas reflecting the layers of history, akin to the skin of society – showcasing its age, strength, power and possession. This  creation is a poignant letter penned in memory of my homeland, Lahore, Pakistan, evoking the vivid imagery of the beautiful red bricks that surrounded me.
