Sarah Macdonald Dry Year 2024 Medium Oil on acrylic primed paper Dimensions 29.6 x 21 cm About the work This work is part of a series of drawings which reflect on the mundane domestic acts involved in being a new parent. Specifically, in this work the repetitive activity of hanging washing. Drawing the drying washing enables a reflection on the passing of time. As I wait for things to dry, moments of creativity are snatched in the domestic landscape. All my work begins with line drawing. In the studio, these works in pencil are reworked in oil on paper from observation and memory, allowing me to rediscover forms and develop different spaces within the pictorial space within my painting.
