Paul Hodgson Study for a Construction Year 2024 Medium Acrylic, ink, pencil, and collage on paper Dimensions 29.7 x 21.1 cm About the work I often use drawing to visualise larger works, and in this particular artwork I was exploring ideas for a construction in my studio. Building objects and environments in front of a camera has become an important part of my practice – and photographic records of these scenes are brought together with digital print, painted marks, and screen print to form large scale hybrid ‘paintings’. The figure glides in and out of my practice, as I look at certain ways in which image making is a construction, and how it can be taken apart and represented. Creating internal difficulties between the subject, object and image.
