About the work

hiraeth (2024) is an oil on acid-free canvas-textured paper. Lawlor has been working exclusively in oil paint for some thirty years, in work that, if abstract, is highly evocative of the natural world, and often immersive in scope. Her occasional works on paper tend to a relative chromatic reduction. They constitute works in their own right that aim to go to the essence of her spatial explorations through a sensual, if sparse, graphic.
