About the work

Haroon Mirza’s work is recognised for installations that often test the interplay and friction between sound, light waves and electric current.
In the work Laws of Attraction, a drawing is executed with ferrofluid, a substance made of ferromagnetic particles suspended in liquid. The abstract composition is a result of Mirza’s manipulation of a magnet underneath the paper. Ferrofluid is sensitive to magnetic poles thus the shapes formed render a tangible evidence of the invisible energy at play.

In 2024, Haroon Mirza is premiering Waking from Time, a collaborative, cross-genre production in collaboration with Birmingham Contemporary Music Group and will present a solo exhibition at Scai The Bathhouse, Tokyo, Japan
