Haroon Mirza Laws of Attraction Year 2024 Medium Ferrofluid on paper Dimensions 29.7 x 21 cm Top pick Selected by Jes Fernie, curator & writer About the work Haroon Mirza’s work is recognised for installations that often test the interplay and friction between sound, light waves and electric current. In the work Laws of Attraction, a drawing is executed with ferrofluid, a substance made of ferromagnetic particles suspended in liquid. The abstract composition is a result of Mirza’s manipulation of a magnet underneath the paper. Ferrofluid is sensitive to magnetic poles thus the shapes formed render a tangible evidence of the invisible energy at play.
