Fiona Grady Ray of Light (Spring) Year 2023 Medium Fused glass panel Dimensions 30.5 x 20.2 x 0.5 cm Top pick Selected by Cornelia Parker, artist About the work I am a site-responsive artist; my practice explores the expanded field of drawing through wall drawings, lighting gel window installations, and projections. My artworks filter light turning it into a tool for drawing. Filtered light activates its surroundings to highlight the architecture and character of its environment. My artworks interact with the light of day to emphasise the passing of time: using geometric shapes, harmonious colour palettes, and dynamic patterns. My artwork “Ray of Light (Spring)” is one in a series of new drawing propositions created from a fused glass panel. It is an imagining of a frozen moment in time – capturing and encasing the imperceptible – a ray of light. The transparent object allows light to travel through it, throwing out its own pool of colour and shadows. It is a meditative drawing that lives and breathes.
