About the work

When I am in a meeting, on the phone, watching the news, or taken up by my daily tasks, I take notes in words and images. The resulting drawings are a record of felt emotions, new impressions, recollected memories, and developing thoughts. The space between the paper and the pen is a meeting ground between my interlocutors’ words and my own ideas. Together, these drawings form an open-ended timeline of creative encounters and moments of imagination piercing through the weight and the anguish of daily life.

Career Highlights

Christian Nyampeta is an artist living in New York from where he organizes programs, exhibitions, screenings, performances, and publications, which are conceived as hosting structures for collective feeling, cooperative thinking, and mutual action. Nyampeta convenes the Nyanza Working Group of ARAC—Another Roadmap School which participated in documenta fifteen, and he is the convener of Boda Boda Lounge 2022-2024, a trans-African film and video art festival. In New York, Nyampeta convenes the African Film Institute at e-flux in Brooklyn.
