About the work

In my practice, I respond to the contemporary socio-political and cultural situation around me. I believe war is not a solution to any issue. I stand against war, violence, extreme Nationalism, militarization and terror. Although the Civil War in Sri Lanka is over, now I hear and see war continuing in other parts of the world. War is becoming an easy money-making business. Financing wars are everywhere. The so-called civilized world is killing innocent people ruthlessly to establish power over independent nations, people, and ethnic groups. Those who suffered from the Holocaust are now repressing other ethnic groups today. Extreme Nationalism and genocide are happening in occupied Palestine lands. Current war and bombings by the Israeli government in Gaza still kill innocent civilians, including children. Dead bodies and rubble of the destroyed city and dwellings are depicted in my drawing.
