Alice Maher is recognised for her exploration of embodiment and identity and her incorporation of a range of literary, historic and folkloric subject matter in a multi-various practice that includes drawing, sculpture and moving image.

Career Highlights

Represented Ireland at the 22nd Sao Paolo Biennale. Solo shows at Douglas Hyde Gallery Dublin, Brighton & Hove Museum, Djanogly Art Centre Nottingham, Purdy Hicks Gallery London, David Nolan Gallery New York, Kevin Kavanagh Gallery Dublin. In 2012 the Irish Museum of Modern Art presented a retrospective, ‘Becoming’, of the artist’s 30 year practice. She has made numerous collaborative works in theatre, dance, film & social activism. Her work can be seen in international collections such as The Hammond Museum, the Fogg Museum, Museum of Fine Arts Boston, The Georges Pompidou Centre, The Ulster Museum and The British Museum.
