FF (Wig 1) is from a new series of work entitled Actress Archives, which interrogates two of the key themes of my work – performance and ornamentation.

About the artist

Cathy Lomax lives and works in London. Graduated from BA Fine Art, London Guildhall University (2000); MA Fine Art, Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London (2002); PhD Film Studies, Queen Mary, University of London (ongoing).

Lomax’s paintings and installations assimilate the seductive imagery of film, fame and fashion, juxtaposing it with personal narratives and the everyday. Her particular interests are femininity, masquerade and the way that popular culture is constructed, consumed and related to.

Her work is held public and private collections including Soho House, Swindon Museum and Art Gallery, and Priseman Seabrook Collection.
