About the work

Conflict, emotion and personal interaction are at the heart of my work. In depicting the human figure I focus on a non-specified underlying narrative which is open to interpretation by the viewer, allowing for a more broad understanding of the picture and its meaning.

About the artist

Grace O’Connor (b. 1977, Waterbury, Connecticut) lives and works in London. Graduated from MA Painting at the Royal Academy of Art (1999). Awards include being shortlisted for Jerwood drawing prize (2007); the Weiss Award for figurative painting (1999); the Royal Overseas League Travel Prize (1998); and the Leverhulme Scholarship (1996).
