About the work

This work is one of the first in a series called Portal. These compositional studies began in late 2018 and inform some of Luxton’s recent paintings. This work embraces her admiration for the combined power of symmetry and the natural world, located in the origins of the Romantic Era of the late 18th Century, to suggest a divine presence on earth.

With a refined visual language of motifs, Luxton creates the surreal, offering an inaccurate reflection, suggesting the space is a gateway into a different reality.
