About the work

This drawing is the red ballpoint pen version of the black ballpoint pen version I made in 2016. The black version was shown in the Virginia Woolf exhibition at Tate St. Ives, Cornwall. The exhibition toured the UK throughout 2018 from Tate St. Ives, to Pallant House Gallery, Chichester, to the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge. It is a self-portrait.

Born 1962 London, Penny Goring lives and works in London. Graduated from BA Fine Art (Painting), Kingston University (1994); and Fashion Writing at London College of Fashion (1981).

Penny Goring makes paintings, sculptures, drawings and poems that are explorations of the contemporary state of emergency.
