About the artist

Jordan Baseman (b. 1960, USA) lives and works London. He studied at Tyler School of Art, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and at Goldsmiths College, University of London. Baseman is currently Head of Sculpture programme and Reader in Time-based Media at the Royal College of Art. His current practice investigates ideas surrounding contemporary portraiture, narrative structure, the manipulation of recorded information, authenticity, animation and documentary. Selected residencies and commissions include: Arts Council England; The Science Museum, London; The Serpentine Gallery, London; Monash University, Melbourne, Australia; and The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Selected solo exhibitions include: The Most Powerful Weapon in this World, Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead (2010); Nature’s Great Experiment, Modern Art Oxford and Catalyst Arts, Belfast (2010); Blue Movie, Matt’s Gallery, London (2009); and A Hypnotic Effect, Collective Gallery, Edinburgh (2009).
