About the artist

Gareth Long (b.1979, Toronto) currently lives and works in Vienna. Long holds a BA in Visual Studies and Classical Civilizations from the University of Toronto and an MFA from Yale University.  He was the first ever Curator in Residence at the Kunsthalle Vienna from March 2013 to March 2014. Long’s solo exhibitions have been mounted at Oakville Galleries, Leo Kamen Gallery,Toronto; the Southern Alberta Art Gallery, Lethbridge; Kate Werble Gallery, New York; Michael Bevento, Los Angeles; and Tory, Paris. His work has also been exhibited at the Badischer Kunstverein, Karlsuhe; Musée d’art contemporain Montréal, Montreal; Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, Denver; Flat Time House, Cartel, London; Spike Island, Bristol; Wiels, Establissement d’en Gace, Brussels; NICC, Antwerp; Witte de With, Rotterdam; Telemark Kunstnersenter, Skien; Artists Space, Casey Kaplan Gallery; and MoMA PS1, New York.
