ROCK PAPER SCISSORS Eleanor Bedlow 28 Oct 2019 – 18 Dec 2019 Back The autumn term of our ROCK PAPER SCISSORS afterschool club was led by artist Eleanor Bedlow, whose own work explores interpretation of objects and place through a child’s perspective. She led the group through a variety of playful processes that transformed two-dimensional drawings into three-dimensional paper forms, and back into 2D by observational drawing. Eleanor produced two ROCK PAPER SCISSORS family activity sheets in 2020 which were distributed digitally over lockdown. SQUASH AND STRETCH DRAWING SCULPTURE Eleanor Bedlow studied drawing at The Prince’s Drawing School (2008) and completed the studio painting programme at the Turps Art School (2018). She creates sculptural play areas of precarious mixed media artworks. Her drawings and sculptures inform each other, creating a collection of inanimate anthropomorphic forms. Some of the activities were like a kind of design, but a non-functional design, meaning the objects didn’t have to work or be anything! Eleanor Bedlow, Artist Children often want to attach a narrative to an image, or explain, but this project was more about the making process and things didn’t have to make sense.
