After a successful first year of our ROCK PAPER SCISSORS programme, Drawing Room is excited to invite a new cohort of artists to lead on projects for 2021-22 and this is your chance to apply to be one of them.

ROCK PAPER SCISSORS is a core part of our engagement programme which puts children at the centre and explores with them, their teachers, schools and families what drawing can be. We are seeking a dynamic range of artists to deliver after school clubs, in-school collaborations, teachers’ assemblies, family studio sessions and holiday projects - all encouraging risk, experimentation and child-led learning through drawing. We are open to artists who use drawing in its broad and cross disciplinary forms.

Artists should apply that:

  • Have a committed personal practice
  • Use drawing, in its various and expanded forms, as part of their work
  • Have experience working with children and families in educational settings
  • Would value working alongside primary aged children
  • Can relate to the diverse local community of Elephant & Castle and Bermondsey
  • Are keen to engage critically and push the parameters of how drawing can be used
  • Are available on the dates of the virtual studio visits
  • Are available to start end of September

We are particularly keen to receive interest from local artists and those currently underrepresented in the arts - we hope to make this role inclusive, accessible and open to all.

Download the application pack below for more details and instructions for how to apply.

We look forward to receiving your expressions of interest!
