Thu 28 February 2019 : 7:00pm – 8:30pm

Devlin Shea’s Getting Closer is the fifth Annotations project for Outset Study. Shea develops the commission with the production of Broken News, a limited edition Risograph print book of recent drawings.

Shea’s conversation with curator and writer Roger Malbert will delve into the sources of her rich imagery, her combination of micro and macro scale, and her methodology of collaging and layering images.

‘Drawings are places where I work through impressions, images, emotional experiences and visual intensities.’

Annotations is a series of artist commissions for Drawing Room’s Outset Study. Including 6 artists over a 3-year period, each artist undertakes a period of supported residency, researching the library collection to create a work for Outset Study - using the wall, the space, or intervening within the library collection itself.

Annotations Outset Study Commissions are supported by Veronique Parke and Outset Contemporary Art Fund.
