Helen Mirra (b. 1970, Rochester, New York, US) based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, US. Studied MFA Studio Art, University of Illinois, Chicago, US (1996); BA Studio Art and Contemporary Art History, Bennington College, Vermont, US (1991). An open-ended and ecologically-minded brevity has been a continuous aspect of Mirra’s idiosyncratic practice. Residencies include University of California at Berkeley; the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin program; MacDowell Colony (2015/ 2013); IASPIS (International Artists Studio Program in Sweden), Stockholm, DK (2011); and Stiftung Laurenz Haus Basel, CH (2008-9). Awards include the Civitella Ranieri Foundation Fellowship (2016).
