Laurence Kavanagh:

Born 1973 Liverpool, Laurence Kavanagh lives and works in London. Graduated from University of Newcastle upon Tyne.

Kavanagh’s work offers an open structure whereby the viewer encounters the work and objects that are often almost shadows of themselves; spectral representations of the physical object completed through memory. Working in a range of materials from paper, resin, paint, graphite and print, the works often create the illusion of precarious or transient form.

His works are held in public and private collections including the Arts Council Collection, London.

Selected solo exhibitions include Segue, Mostyn Gallery, Wales (2016-17); March, Marlborough Contemporary, London (2016); October, Gallery North, Newcastle (2015); Star and Shadow, Hatton Gallery/Arts Catalyst commission, Newcastle (2015); May, Marlborough Contemporary, London (2014); New Positions, Art Cologne, Cologne (2013); April, Gerald Moore Gallery, London (2012); and Jealousy, The Print Room Theatre, London (2012). Selected group exhibitions include More Than I Dare to Think About, Marlborough Contemporary, London (2013); Transmitter/Reciever, The Persistence of Collage, Arts Council Collection touring show starting at MIMA, Middlesbrough (2011-13); Group Show, Pilar Corrias Gallery, London (2012); Lights, Camera, Action!, Temple Bar Gallery, Dublin (2012); and Mostyn Open, Oriel Mostyn, Llandudno (2011).
