Adam Dant:

Adam Dant (b. 1967, Cambridge) lives and works in London. He studied Graphic Design at the Liverpool School of Art 1985-1989, at the MS University Faculty of Fine Arts, Baroda, India in 1988 and Fine Art Printmaking at the Royal College of Art, London from 1989-1991. Dant creates dense and elaborate drawings, thoroughly researched and often possessed of a dysfunctional logic. Mishap and folly proliferates his work and he has been described as someone who "delights in serious craziness that pokes fun at our contemporary media by proposing charismatically strange alternative perspectives". Selected solo exhibitions include: The Budge Row Bibliotheque, Bloomberg Space, London (2015), Soerditch: Diary of a Neighbourhood, 11 Spitalfields, London (2013), From the Library of Dr. London, Hales Gallery, London (2012), Adam Dant– Unusual Cartography of East London, Town House Antiques, London (2011), Dant on Drink: Drawings about Drinking in Britain, Hales Gallery, London (2010) and New Art Gallery, Walsall, UK (2010). Selected group exhibitions include: The British Figure, Flowers Gallery, London (2015), Royal Scotting Academy Summer show, Edinburgh, Scotland (2013), The Artists of Spitalfields Life, Ben Pentreath Ltd. London (2012), AgitPOP, Guided by Invoices, New York (2012) and The Royal Family, Hayward Gallery Project space, London (2011). In 2002, Dant was the recipient of the Jerwood Drawing Prize. In 2015, the artist was selected as the official Election Artist documenting the 2015 UK General Election. The artist is represented by Hales Gallery, London.
