Rachel Goodyear:

Rachel Goodyear (b. 1978, Lancashire, UK) lives and works in Manchester. Studied at Leeds Metropolitan University. Working predominantly in pencil and ink she creates intricate but sparse images that capture notions of fragmented recollections, false memories and unconscious fears and desires that bubble up from the psyche. Goodyear works mostly on paper, but will often allow her practice to playfully expand into projections, animations and installation. Select solo exhibitions include New Art Gallery Walsall (2017); Restless Guests, The Drawing Center, New York; Approaching the Surface, Pippy Houldsworth Gallery, London; and Modifications of the Host, Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Select group exhibitions include Weserburg Museum of Modern Art, Bremen; The Freud Museum, London; Folkwang Museum, Essen; Innsbruck Biennial, Austria; The Curitiba Biennial, Brazil; and Liverpool Biennial, Tate Liverpool. Her work is held in many international collections including The V&A, London; Olbricht Collection, Essen; Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool; The Whitworth, Manchester; and Museum Folkwang, Essen. She is represented by Pippy Houldsworth Gallery, London.
