João Penalva:

João Penalva (b. 1949, Lisbon) lives and works in London. Studied at the Chelsea School of Art, London (1976-81). Awards include the Bryan Robertson Trust Award, London (2009). Residencies include the DAAD Berlin Artist’s Residency (2003). Penalva represented Portugal in the Bienal Internacional de São Paulo (1996); Pavilion of Portugal, Venice Biennale (2001); and Berlin Biennale (2001); Biennale of Sydney (2002); and Bienal de Cartajena de Indias, Colombia (2014).
