Richard Wilson:

Richard Wilson (b. 1953, London, England) is one of the country’s most renowned sculptors. He studied at the London College of Printing (1970-71), Hornsey College of Art (1971-74) and Reading University (1974-76). He has exhibited widely both in the UK and internationally for over 30 years and has made major museum exhibitions and public works in countries around the world. He has been nominated for the Turner Prize twice, and was awarded the prestigious DAAD residency in Berlin in 1992. In 2006 Wilson was elected a member of the Royal Academy. His more recent work Turning the Place Over  (2007) was his contribution to Liverpool’s European Capital of Culture and he recently completed a major sculpture commission for the New Terminal 2 at Heathrow launched in April 2014. He has also represented the UK in the Sydney, Sao Paulo, Venice Biennials and Yokohama Triennial. Richard’s projects have generated universal critical acclaim.  His seminal installation 20:50, a sea of reflective sump oil, which is permanently installed in the Saatchi Collection, was described by one art critic as ‘one of the masterpieces of the modern age’.
