About Sam Austen:

Sam Austen (b. London, 1986) lives and works in London. Studying at the Royal Academy Schools and gained a BA in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art and Design (2009). On graduating Austen was awarded an ACME Studio as a 6 month studio residency. He has been making 16mm films, mostly in the style of 1930s abstract animations influenced by the work of Oskar Fischinger and Len Lye. He makes objects and drawings, which move and are lit in such as way as to look like animations, however everything is filmed in real time.
