About Richard Deacon:

Richard Deacon (b. 1949, Bangor) lives and works in London. Received his BA from St. Martin’s School of Art and MA in Environmental Media from the Royal College of Art, London. Select awards include Turner Prize, Tate Gallery (1987); the Robert Jakobsen Prize (1995); and the Ernst Franz Vogelmann Prize for Sculpture (2017). Deacon was awarded Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres (1997); elected a Royal Academician (1998); elected a member of the Akademie der Kunst, Berlin (2010); and awarded a CBE (1999). He has received Honorary Doctorates from the University of Leicester (2005) and The Azerbaijan State Academy of Arts (2015).
